Peninsula de Nicoya

Yesterday afternoon was very eventful with monkey business. We have seen a family of howler monkeys lots of times, but a group of much more aggressive, self confident capuchins appeared by the pool and looked ready to fight with anyone and anything (including a terrified little girl). They also came right up to our room and had to be shooed away - definitely monkeys wiv attitood!
This morning I did the fabulous yoga under the trees again before we set off on a three hour drive to the central Nicoya coast.
Most of the drive was fine, but the last 30 km were on a rough, dusty, dirt road with half of the time stuck behind a lorry. It was a relief to get to San Juanillo,  a very laid back beach village, where we had a delicious taco lunch and some very welcome cold beers.
Our hotel is on top of a hill looking over the Pacific to the front and a gorgeous shady terrace  at the back of our room.

Apparently we will be woken up very early by the local wildlife and a large iguana just tap danced across our roof.

This may or may not be a chachalaca - my bird observation skills are as good as my cross legged yoga poses..
